At Phantom we take every precaution to ensure the safety of our campers and staff. All visitors are required to check in upon arrival. All boaters must wear life jackets regardless of swimming ability. Safety is controlled in our swimming area by our certified life guards and frequent “buddy checks.” All cyclists and skateboarders are required to wear helmets. A licensed Registered Nurse lives on site and meets the health needs of our campers.
Phantom Lake YMCA Camp is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. Developed exclusively for the camp industry, this nationally recognized program focuses on program quality, health and safety issues and requires us to review every facet of our operation. Phantom Lake has earned this mark of distinction for over 25 years.
In everyone’s lives, there are inspiring people and great moments that they will remember forever. That is why our staff plays such an important role here at Phantom. They model the core values we teach to campers. A Phantom counselor (aged 18-28) has been carefully selected and trained in first aid, CPR, child abuse prevention, and much more. Many of our staff have completed our Staff Development Program. This program trains teens (ages 15-17) to support the counselors, campers and activities. The ratio of staff to campers range from 1:5 to 1:12 based on age.
Our annual satisfaction surveys reflect our commitment to successfully welcoming and engaging any child ages 3-17, regardless of race, religion, disability, nationality, or other legally protected class. Email us for our latest Camper Satisfaction Survey results.

“Phantom Lake YMCA Camp does a marvelous job training their staff. My children have really felt comfortable and safe with all of their counselors.”
“My daughter is a bit of a homebody, so she learned that she can go out and have fun and not be nervous that the comforts of home weren’t there but she made new ‘comforts’!”
“This was her first time away from home with no adult that was related or a friend of ours. She learned to make some of her own decisions and to be responsible for her things.”
“She learned that she has the abilities to be a good friend and a strong, independent person.”
“I am really very pleased with the experience and the values that your camp taught my son. When I came to pick him up I was very impressed that everyone in his group all freely gave each other hugs goodbye. I thought my son’s counselor was a really positive person and overall thought it was a great experience for my son.”
“My daughter was hesitant to attend overnight camp. After her great experience, she wants to go for two weeks! She wears her PLYC hoody everywhere!”
“My child had such a wonderful time at camp. He said it was even better this year then last year. He said he was familiar with the camp and was able to enjoy some other things this year that he didn’t choose to do last year. I can’t begin to express how happy I am that my child loves this camp. It is such a wonderful place to be with your friends and a wonderful place to meet new people. Thank you so much for all your wonderful staff. They make the kids experience so great!”
