Phantom Lake YMCA Camp Adds Business Executive Chris Nines To Board Of Directors

Nines brings decades of financial acumen to the finance committee.

MUKWONAGO—June 24, 2025—Phantom Lake YMCA Camp, the oldest YMCA Camp in the nation, announced today its newest board member, Chris Nines, who will serve on the finance committee. His decades of financial acumen will ensure camp continues to be a fiscally sound investment for donors who underpin camp’s ability to provide a safe, nurturing, inclusive, fun experience, and the staff training required to deliver each year on these core values.

“For more than 120 years, Phantom Lake YMCA Camp has provided a nurturing environment where campers help each other, build each other up, and include one another,” Nines, a former camper and staff member, said. “I joined the board, because Phantom Lake is a rare place where the chaos of overly structured, daily life washes away. Where children find themselves in a place they don’t have to be anything else.”

A Wisconsin native, Nines is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Business. He earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. For nearly 25 years, he has delivered results as a successful business and financial executive working primarily in Austin, Texas.

“Chris is a great complement to our board of business and community leaders, as well as camp parents,” Phantom Lake YMCA Camp CEO Jeff Spang said. “For decades, Chris has delivered results through every stage of his career in finance and business, as well as impact through his ongoing commitment to giving back as an active board member with the United Way, American Heart Association and Austin Children’s Museum. We’re thrilled to have his talents and commitment to community on our team.”

Nines’ career includes experience leading finance, accounting, treasury, investor relations and communication functions. He has a proven track record of successfully raising capital in public and private markets, principally by building strong relationships and delivering creative solutions that meet the needs of all constituencies. In addition, he developed and implemented sound capital allocation and investment strategies, principally focused on maximizing long-term shareholder value.

“All of Chris’s financial and business acumen will add to our financial strength and vision to position us for the next 120 years,” Spang said, “ensuring Phantom Lake YMCA Camp continues to provide a safe, enriching, inclusive, fun summer camp experience to every camper.”
